Manuscript Submission Overview

AHFE Open Access is pleased to offer a hybrid open access option for authors submitting full papers that meet the scientific quality standards and peer-review criteria of the AHFE Open Access Proceedings.

Manuscripts submitted should neither be published previously nor be under consideration for publication in another journal or proceedings.

Types of Publications

• Articles: Original research manuscripts reporting scientifically sound experiments and a substantial amount of new information. Quality and impact are considered during peer review.

• Reviews: Concise, precise updates on the latest progress made in a given area of research.

Submission Process

Submit manuscripts online via the AHFE submission system. Register or log in at https://www.journal-cms.org/login.

The submitting author is generally the corresponding author and is responsible for the manuscript during submission and peer review. Authors must ensure all eligible co-authors are included and have approved the submitted version.

Accepted File Formats

Authors must use the AHFE Microsoft Word template and convert the manuscript into a single file before submission. Insert graphics, figures, and tables within the main text after their first citation.

Supplementary files may be provided in common, non-proprietary formats. Total upload size should not exceed 100 MB; contact [email protected] if you need an exception.

Disclaimer: usage of these templates is exclusively intended for submission to the proceedings for peer review, and is not intended for posting on preprint servers or other websites.

Cover Letter

Include a brief cover letter explaining the significance of the work, its fit within the proceedings scope, and why it should be published. Confirm the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.

Author Biography

Authors are encouraged to include a short biography (maximum 100 words). The biography should include:

• Full names and current positions.

• Education background including institution and year of degree.

• Work experience.

• Current and previous research interests.

• Memberships in professional societies and awards.

Editorial Procedures and Peer Review

Initial Checks

All submitted manuscripts are checked by the editorial office to confirm proper preparation and adherence to ethical policies. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned for revision or rejected before peer review.

Peer Review

Once a manuscript passes initial checks, it is assigned to at least two independent experts for single-blind peer review. Reviewers' comments are confidential and disclosed only with their agreement.

Reviewers are selected based on expertise, and may include editorial board members and guest editors. Suggested reviewers from authors may also be considered, but reviewers must not have published with the authors in the past five years or currently collaborate with their institutions.

Editorial Decision and Revision

The academic editor communicates one of the following decisions: accept after minor revisions, reconsider after major revisions, reject and encourage resubmission, or reject. Authors should respond to reviewer comments point-by-point.

Minor revisions typically have a short turnaround, while major revisions may allow one additional round of review. If substantial new experiments are required, the manuscript may be rejected with encouragement to resubmit after further work.

Author Appeals

Authors may appeal a rejection by sending a detailed justification to the editorial office, including point-by-point responses to reviewers' and editors' comments. Appeals are reviewed by senior editors and are final.

Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts undergo copy editing, proofreading, final corrections, pagination, and publication on the proceedings website.
