Abstract: The challenges of knowledge-based economy required ideas and expertise where creative and innovative workforce are of greater values. This is because efficient and effective management of human capital is becoming increasingly an imperative and complex process. Therefore, organizations should increase the gathering, storing, and analyzing information regarding their Human Resources (HRs) through the use of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) in order to increase the operational efficiency. IT (information technology) and IS (information system) are part of HR functions mainly to develop, and use for better HRM programmes that have direct significance on HR functions which provides HR professionals with opportunities to enhance their contribution to the strategic direction of the firm. With the changing world and evolution of new technology, meeting this information requirement becomes important. HR managers need to be aware that the change in technology will not only increase the quality of employee information, but also will have a strong effect on the overall effectiveness of the organization. Thus, the HR professionals need to participate and contribute fully to their organizations, as true strategic business partners using the HRIS proxies. This research addresses the knowledge gap regarding the impact of HRIS on private organizations' efficiency in Nigeria, especially the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Professional providers by focusing on recruitment and application tracking, workforce analytics insights, and system functionalities. The study provided insights into the influence of these technologies on time savings, employee productivity, and the reduction of wastages. To achieve these objectives, survey research design was adopted using online questionnaires to solicit for data among Professional ICT providers in Nigeria. Hypotheses are formulated and tested at specific level of significance using inferential statistical tool to investigate the impact of HRIS on operational efficiency. A sample size of employees, responsible for HRIS operations in selected organizations, was chosen using cluster sampling technique. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire with Likert 5-point rating scales. Regression analysis was employed for hypotheses testing, and the results reveal significant impacts. The first hypothesis demonstrates that recruitment and application tracking systems positively impact time savings in Nigerian organizations, contributing to operational efficiency. The second hypothesis establishes a substantial positive influence of workforce analytics insights on employee productivity, emphasizing the strategic importance of HRIS in enhancing workforce effectiveness. The third hypothesis emphasizes the role of system functionalities in reducing wastages, aligning with operational efficiency goals. In conclusion, the study highlights the critical role of HRIS in enhancing operational efficiency in Nigerian ICT private organizations. The findings emphasize the practical relevance of recruitment and application tracking, workforce analytics insights, and system functionalities in shaping time savings, employee productivity, and wastage reduction. The research contributes valuable insights for organizations seeking informed decision-making regarding the adoption and optimization of HRIS for improved performance and efficiency.
