Field-of-View Studies for Stereo Interactions
Rapidly growing extended reality technologies brought us more stereo interfaces and the costs became more affordable. We anticipated a rapid adaptation of the stereo display in everyday life and professional practice. Unfortunately, similar to 3D TVs, stereo displays have not been widely used in real-time. In this study, we want to know how the users interact with the stereo display systems, say, “stereo interaction.” We focus on the factors of field-of-view and distance to the screen. We found the field of view of many well-known stereo displays is very limited. For certain devices, only one location is for the user, not for the team to view the 3D effects. We also studied the stability of the 3D image in different lighting, poses, and motion. Finally, we zoom into the laparoscopic surgery training and summarize our findings.

Reinventing the Virtual Museum Post-Pandemic: An Audience-Centric Approach to Enhancing Virtual Exhibitions of Intangible Cultural Heritage
Virtual environments have been extensively utilized in museums. During the COVID-19 pandemic, museums in China, both primary and secondary, organized virtual exhibition halls and digital collection retrieval functions. These efforts played a crucial role in facilitating public engagement with traditional culture. However, post-pandemic, public interest in online museums has significantly waned, highlighting the limitations of virtual museums in representing intangible cultural heritage. This study introduces an audience-centered approach to virtual museum design, specifically tailored to the features of intangible cultural heritage such as folk songs and dances. It incorporates Kano, AHP and AD design theories to develop the museum's virtual exhibition method. The process began with identifying 207 audience needs through research, which were then classified using the Kano model. The AHP method was employed to determine the relative importance of various user needs, emphasizing information collection, preservation, display and viewing modes, visual aesthetics, entertainment, public education, and social attributes in virtual museums. To align the design parameters of the virtual museum, the study established a mapping between the museum's functional domain and the design domain, guided by the AD theory's principle of independence. This facilitated a step-by-step evaluation of perceptual and rational solutions through a matrix, clarifying the functional scope and design methods for the virtual museum. This research offers valuable insights for virtual museum design and development, providing a reference for future virtual space projects and enhancing the representation of intangible cultural heritage in digital formats.

Visual Pictures and Digital Technologies in the Digital Anthropocene: Development, Analysis, and Critical Reflection
This paper explores the favorable effects of visual pictures and digital technology, while critically reflecting on visual pictures and digital technology to warn humans of potential threats we may confront in the Digital Anthropocene. We cite W.J.T. Mitchell’s theory of the “pictorial turn” and Don Ihde’s phenomenology of technology to explore the development of visual pictures and the relationship between humans and visual pictures and technology, respectively. Our study focused on the visual pictures and application of digital technologies through pertinent literature and case studies. Based on these explorations, we advanced a novel viewpoint termed “non-anthropocentric intelligent technology-oriented design,” aiming to reveal the subject-object relationship between humans and technologies and how humans can escape the hegemonic control of digital beings. The current research indicates that with the support of digital technologies, visual pictures are characterized by multidimensionality, diversity, and temporally-spatially adaptability. Immersive design, formed by the deep integration of visual pictures and technologies, brings humans a more abundant visual experience. In addition, AI-assisted design also unleashes humans’ creativity and improves efficiency. Nevertheless, as the transmission of the era of “the mimetic domain” from “the picture domain” intensifies the digital gap, excessive visual pictures impose high visual pressure and cognitive crisis on humans. AI-assisted design also replaces low-quality labor and restructures design teams. However, the subject-object relation between humans and visual pictures and technologies is gradually blurring in the progress of digitization. Maintaining humanity amid the digital wave of visual pictures and technologies is to maintain humans’ free will and adhere to ethical principles in design. One crucial future direction is to explore the ethical dimensions of digital picture production and the intricate relationship between digital technologies and human embodiment.

The Development of a Care Assistive Device Based on Design Thinking: An Examination of Interview Methods by Visualizing Ideas Using Sketches
In the design thinking process, interviews are essential to incorporating user perspectives. Typically, the initial interviews aim for empathy, while subsequent ones during the user test phase validate prototypes. However, this often means that direct user input is not integrated during the ideation and prototype creation stages, potentially leading to a disconnect between developers and users. This study aims to promote user participation throughout the design thinking process and align perceptions between developers and users. We conducted a case study where interviews were held during the ideation phase, and hand-drawn sketches were used for visualizing ideas, thereby incorporating direct user feedback on prototype concepts. The case study focused on the development of a device to prevent falls among elderly residents in a care facility. The results suggest that using hand-drawn sketches for idea visualization during ideation interviews contributes to aligning developer and user understandings, enhancing the development process.

Designing for Emotion: An Action Research Approach to Enhancing Student Engagement in Communication Design
Emotions are needed for human contact, which includes such essentials as conversation, getting folk into channels, communication design and education. Students often encounter problems from assignments requiring outstanding creativity and problem-solving skills. For many people, it can still prove challenging to have their emotional needs met; however, if they lack motivation and engagement, higher learning becomes less pleasant. Feelings which may lead to a loss of productivity in studies? Negative, such as anxiety, boredom, irritability and weariness. Educators concentrate more on conveying academic content without genuine concern for students' emotional state. This is a significant reason they need more motivation and engagement. Creating design that evoke emotions frameworks aim to do precisely this; ensuring that products and services have characteristics that raise their users' emotional levels. The result can be increased engagement. The thesis aims to explore these issues in intersectional study, given the fact that further reduced numbers of students are being enrolled in hitherto highly regarded majority-offering directorates.

Enhancing public engagement and awareness: An analysis of internet meme posts usage by Indian police departments on Instagram
Social media has become integral to individuals' everyday routines, with messaging applications and platforms serving as the predominant online destinations globally. These platforms have played a significant role in increasing the prominence of internet memes, which serve as vehicles for disseminating information through the utilization of comedy and sarcasm. In this study, we examine how Instagram posts by Mumbai, Delhi, Assam, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand police about road safety, cybercrime, women's safety, and consent engage with the public, raise awareness about these issues, and improve police-public relations. We collected 100 static memes from the Instagram pages of the police departments between January 1, 2022, and February 28, 2023, and conducted a synthesis of metadata related to these internet memes to assess their likes and comments as a secondary source of information. In addition, we used exportcomments.com to export comments from posts to.csv files and Azure Machine Learning (AML) web services to assess the sentiments (positive, neutral, or negative) of the comments. As primary data, a questionnaire survey with 90 participants (ages ranging from 23 to 43 years, 34% male and 66% female) was conducted to analyze the potential impact of internet memes on social awareness, their informativeness, and the level of trust associated with the information they convey. Purposive random sampling was employed for the selection of the respondents. A bivariate Pearson's correlation coefficient (r) was calculated to determine the strength and direction of the linear relationship between social awareness, informativeness, and the level of trust in conveyed information. The results showed that the internet memes in the corpus received over 2 million likes and were liked an average of 3369 times. The sentiment analysis of the 692 comments reveals that of them, 90.50% (629) were favorable or positive, 5.61% (39) were neutral, and 3.88% (27) were negative. This shows that people's perceptions of and interactions with the police department on Instagram are generally positive due to the platform's wide reach, high level of involvement in the form of likes, and the dearth of comments expressing dissatisfaction. The bivariate correlation (r (88) =.79, p <.001) between these two factors (social awareness and informativeness) was positive and high. There is a significant association between the potential to alter public awareness and the level of informative substance transmitted by internet memes. The study concludes that the strategic use of internet memes by Indian police departments on Instagram significantly enhances public awareness, engagement, and positive perceptions regarding road safety, cybercrime, women's safety, and consent issues. In addition, Internet memes have the potential to be a beneficial and novel tool for social awareness issues, addressing social and public concerns across social media platforms.

Exploring the Impact of Packaging Information on Consumer Purchase Decision
This study uses verbal protocol analysis to delve into how packaging information impacts consumer purchase decision. The focus is on health supplements, chosen due to their minimal susceptibility to variations in packaging aesthetics, materials, and product differences. Participants were asked to think aloud while selecting from multiple products with similar ingredients. This method provided a dynamic perspective on their processes of acquiring packaging information and consumer purchase decisions. The collected verbal protocol data underwent two coding phases. The first phase followed the EKB model, encompassing stages such as problem recognition, information search, alternative evaluation, and purchase decision. The post-purchase evaluation from the EKB model was excluded as the focus is on information search and purchase decision. The second phase involved categorizing packaging information elements based on literature. Combining the findings from the two phases, the study concludes that text, style, color, and graphics collectively influence product selection and purchase decisions. By understanding and leveraging the impact of packaging information on consumer behavior, designers can formulate packaging strategies that capture consumer attention and guide them through the purchase decision-making process, ultimately resulting in a positive post-purchase experience.

Virtual Scene Design of Peking Opera "Farewell My Concubine" Based on Human-Computer Interaction Technology
In the continuous development of interactive art today, people pay more and more attention to the diversity of interactive methods, and Chinese opera performance has also derived many emerging technology carriers. For example, the virtual scene opera performance is based on human-computer interaction technology, which breaks through the limitation of time and space of opera performance, transforms from the theatre stage space to various types of virtual space, and makes use of various types of carriers and media such as image and sound to perform. Actors in the virtual space can create an interactive continuation of the virtual space through body changes or spatial scheduling. This not only enables the audience to appreciate the imagery of the "four skills" of Singing, Recitative, Acting, and Acrobatic Fighting in the choreographed movements of the opera but also to appreciate the spatial image of the "image outside of the image" and "image outside of the meaning".The virtual scene design of the Peking Opera "Farewell My Concubine" realizes the functions of multimedia participation in performance and construction of virtual scenes through digitally constructed performance scenes, which can be quickly applied to diversified opera performances, and at the same time, it has strong theoretical and practical application value in expanding the scope of the audience and expanding the effectiveness of trans-media digital opera dissemination, providing new possibilities for further combining the virtual scene design of the opera with human-computer interaction technology.
